Academics
The rigorous acupuncture and oriental medicine curriculum at AOMA is combined with clinical rotations that integrate all aspects of the training. AOMA is committed to the success of our students and has gathered together a team of world-class faculty dedicated to creating a meaningful educational experience for our students. The faculty are here to share their knowledge and expertise to assist students to help, heal, and transform the lives of their patients.
To assure that our students receive the best education possible, the academic program is overseen by Veronica L. Conners, RN, EdD, PhD, Provost; Yuxin He, MD, PhD (China), Dean of Academics; and Qianzhi Wu, MD (China), Vice President of Faculty.

Dr. Conners completed her bachelor’s degree in nursing and was licensed to practice in Texas in 1971. Before attending graduate school, Dr. Conners practiced in spinal cord injury rehabilitation and critical care. She began teaching in 1973 at Texas Woman’s University (Houston Campus). In 1980, Dr. Conners assumed the position of Associate Dean for Graduate Studies in the School of Nursing at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC). While at UMKC, Dr. Conners spent a sabbatical year at the School of Nursing, Curtin University of Technology in Perth, Western Australia working on a graduate curriculum in nursing. Upon her return to the US, she began doctoral study at the University of Texas at Austin. After graduation, she held administrative positions in the schools of nursing at Texas Christian University (Ft. Worth, Texas), Florida International University (Miami, Florida), and Adelphi University (Long Island, New York). At Adelphi University she was Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Research and Executive Director of the Centers for Gerontological Care at Parker Jewish Institute of Rehabilitation. In 2003, she became the Academic Dean for Cox College of Nursing and Health Sciences (Springfield, Missouri). She has just completed the American Council on Education’s Institute for New Chief Academic Officers for which she was selected from applicants across the country. Dr. Conners is an experienced academic administrator and teacher and brings a strong background in research and grant development to AOMA. Dr. Conners joined AOMA in August, 2007.
