Basics of Nutrition

This class will give the participant a solid foundation in Western nutrition. Topics will include - cholesterol risk: fact or fiction, the danger of carbohydrates, good fats/bad fats, the roles of basic nutrients, and being able to identify nutritional deficiencies in the clinic. Case studies will be included, as well as how to incorporate nutrition in to a TCM practice. *Prerequisite: must be TCM student or practitioner. This is an elective class and does not count towards your degree.
About the instructor:
Will Mitchell is a licensed acupuncturist and a certified Applied Clinical Nutritionist. He has successfully utilized nutrition in his TCM practice and has effectively treated many difficult cases using this combined approach. He lectures frequentlyon nutrition and related topics. Since graduating from AOMA, he practices with his wife, Marlene Merritt, at Merritt Acupuncture and Wellness in Austin, Texas, and is president of the Texas Toyohari Association.
