An exploration of movement and internal work, focusing on eight animal systems, to strengthen internal organs and balance. This class will include standing strengthening postures and meditation with an emphasis on correct body structure (muscular tension, tendon twisting, ground grabbing feet, sitting down and hollowing the hips, etc.), circle turning with emphasis on footwork and body calibration, moving strike training exploring different drilling methods and techniques of the specified animal system (Lion, Snake, Bear, Dragon, Phoenix, Rooster, Kirin, Monkey). This 10 class series will focus on the Lion system. The lion system is a vigorous and powerful system, open to beginners or anyone that can keep up with the dynamic pace of Baguazhang in general.
About the instructor: Kuan Wang is an indoor disciple of He Jinbao. He has spent numerous years dedicating his life to preserving this rare, and ancient art of Baguazhang. Kuan has studied intensively in Beijing under the guidance of the Grand Carrier of Yin Style Baguazhang and is one of the only official Disciples currently teaching in the states.

Natural Style Kungfu is a unique traditional Chinese Martial Art with Daoist roots that uses the entire body in an integrated way to exercise and strengthen your muscles, tendons, and ligaments. It incorporates aerobics to build cardiovascular and muscular endurance; shares with yoga an emphasis on strength and flexibility and has qualities of dance as it improves agility and coordination. You will be learning stances to strengthen leg muscles, footwork to improve agility and cardiovascular health, stretch kicks to improve flexibility and prevent injuries, and arm movements to enhance overall body coordination.This class will be co-taught by Shifu Rudy Ibarra and Joshua Shain.
About the instructors: Shifu Rudy Ibarra has twenty-three years experience training in martial arts. Ten studying Karate and thirteen studying and teaching Kungfu, four of them spent in the cradle of martial arts, China. He has been teaching Kungfu in NYC since 2003 and splits his time between Austin and New York City. Joshua Shain began training martial arts when he arrived in China in 2004. After a stay at Wudang Mountain, he found his way to Fuzhou where he began intensively training Natural Styke Kungfu with Grandmaster Lu Yaoqin. In 2009 Joshua returned home to begin a masters of acupuncture and oriental medicine at AOMA. Since then, he has been training with and assisting Shifu Rudy Ibarra.

*Prerequisite: must be TCM student or practitioner. This is an elective class and does not count towards your degree.
This course is designed for acupuncturists, taught by an acupuncturist, and gives the participants a solid foundation in Western nutrition. Don't miss this opportunity! The class will cover everything from: cholesterol risk-fact or fiction, the danger of carbohydrates, good fats/bad fats, the roles of basic nutrients, and being able to identify nutritional deficiencies in the clinic. Case studies will be included, as well as how to incorporate nutrition in to a TCM practice. THIS IS NOT YOUR AVERAGE NUTRITION CLASS. Not only will you be amazed by what you find out for yourself, but also by what you learn that will impact your patients.
About the instructor: Will Mitchell is a licensed acupuncturist and a certified Applied Clinical Nutritionist. He has successfully utilized nutrition in his TCM practice and has effectively treated many difficult cases using this combined approach. He lectures frequently on nutrition and related topics.
