AOMA offers regular brown bag presentations.  These topics include distinguished speakers, alumni sharing experiences, practice management tips, etc.  All brown bag talks are FREE to the public.  Bring your lunch, bring your questions, leave with knowledge.  The brown bag talks take place in AOMA's classroom B unless otherwise noted.

Dr. Michael Luan, D.C. is a Body Communications Coach, Consultant and Speaker from Santa Barbara, CA. His teaching is a unique blend of identifying body patterns and various innovative solutions. He teaches simple methods to improve their health,
posture, biomechanics, movements and body shape. His focus is on individuals or groups undergoing change and/or transition. Dr. Michael’s speaking, consulting, and coaching links everyday body use to tangible returns in business, relationships, and
interactions—simply put: a better body, better business.
He has studied various forms of martial arts for sixteen years and holds a black belt in Ashihara Karate. His other qualifications include: sports training, peak performance, body rolling, mind/body modes, rehabilitation, body patterning, yoga and teacher
training. He is also a corporate consultant for numerous organizations across the
country, regular speaker at UC Santa Barbara, and an advisor for various learning
programs.

This lecture is for anyone interested in bridging the gap between Western and Eastern, and getting the similarities clearer for themselves.
This lecture will discuss:
how NOT to talk to your patients
"translating" Chinese medicine for your patients
multiple examples of Western diagnoses and the correlating OM diagnosis

how to treat those conditions, using a combination of herbs, nutrition, and testing
Will Mitchell and Marlene Merritt, licensed acupuncturists and owners of Merritt Acupuncture and Wellness, have created a private practice combining the understandings of Oriental Medicine, Western medicine, nutrition and herbalism to diagnose and treat difficult and chronic medical conditions. Both have extensive experience in Western medicine as well as in teaching and lecturing, including at AOMA.
