"As a longtime retail manager, my job included extensive data entry. The monotony of the job led to hours of phone conversation during my work. After several years of working with hands forward and neck cocked, I developed unbearable pain under my left scapula. I sought treatment from the western medical world. My pain was seen only as muscular. I was fed muscle relaxants and pain killers for over 4 years. This treatment protocol continued until my long time doctor finally sent me to physical therapy for my shoulder pain. After one visit to the physical therapist, my pain worsened to the point I could not bear to even have a person on my left side for fear they may touch my arm, sending shooting pain through my shoulder area. My doctor assured me that the pain may get worse before it got better so I found a new therapy center located closer to my home. After extensive interview & range of motion testing, the new therapist felt this pain was caused by a bulging disc in my neck & the pain in my shoulder was a result of pressure on the nerve. The new therapy, which consisted of a wide range of extension exercises, eventually helped to alleviate the majority of the pain. With additional stress, the pain would increase back to its original state, and often became worse. When I changed jobs from retail to office manager, the pain continued in my shoulder. I sought treatment for the pain through acupuncture in a Clinical Theatre Class at the Academy of Oriental Medicine at Austin. I was met with a small class of inquisitive students and a confident instructor (Xiaotian Shen). After extensive intake paperwork and initial questioning; Shen felt the pain was caused by stagnation and that once weakened, the body would attack that area during periods of stress. Because this was my first experience with acupuncture, Shen recommended that he do a light treatment to include some mild needling for 30 minutes or so and local cupping. After about an hour and a half, the treatment was complete. I left feeling relaxed and pain free. For me, acupuncture accomplished in less than 2 hours what western medicine could not properly diagnose yet alone alleviate in 4 plus years of drug therapy. I have not had a significant reoccurrence of this pain in over 5 years & continue to have acupuncture treatments for allergies, and sports injuries I suffer as a professional disc golfer."

On the month of September of 2002 my mother was suffering from abdominal pains.  She was seen by physicians who could not find anything wrong with her this went for some time until she could not tolerate the pain.  She admitted herself through emergency @ Sierra Medical Center in El Paso, were she was diagnose with a liver tumor which measured 10cm.  a liver biopsy procedure was done on her, the results of this sample came back positive with an aggressive cancer type.
Physicians give her one month to live, because the cancer in the liver was to advanced to be remove or to do anything.  Only pain killers and stool softener was prescribed and she was referred to Hospice agency once she was discharge from hospital.  I went out for second opinions from other physicians and the results which came back were the same.
At the time I was working at the University Health System Medical Center at San Antonio that is where I heard about the Aoma Academy of Oriental Medicine at Austin through an in-service that was given at the University Health System.  The in-service was comparing the western and eastern methods of caring for patients with acupuncture, prescribed herbal, strict raw diet and internal positive state of mind.
Yuxia Qiu attended my mother on her first visit, to Aoma Academy at Austin.  My mother at the time was very weak, fatigue, jaundice and with no hope.  Qiu did a complete examination and with the encouragement words and respect which my mother have not heard or seen from other physicians for some time who had seen made mother relax and place her in a comfortable state.  Qiu has worked with my mother for the past two years her professionalism and kindness of treating patient not as number but as an individual.  I say this because I witness a change on my mother from the first time she began communicating.  Mother is still with us, Thank to Qiu our angel.
Mother first visited with Qiu her Alpha Fetoprotein was 800 NG/ML this lab is obtained with blood sample at El Paso Cancer Center (This lab tell you the cancer activity in the blood which 800 was very high and near death).  During this time mother has been visiting Qiu every month for the past two years she has been under her care and cont. prescribing herbal from White Crane Herbal Medicine for her health and acupuncture therapy.
Her last Alpha Fetoprotein was done on 7/19/2004 report came back with 3.5 NG/ML; she is back to her lifestyle but with better eating habit no fatigue or pain.  Physicians at the El Paso Cancer Center have no explanation to this day what was occurring to my mother.  The tumor had decreased in size that it could not be located anymore an physicians suggested to operate to explore the liver.  Mother answer was no.
