Marilyn Allen, MS
Marilyn Allen is a Practice Management consultant for the acupuncture profession. Her expertise includes office management, marketing, professional ethics and jurisprudence. With a M.S. in Management and Administration from Pepperdine University, she has honed her skills in several large complementary medical clinics. She is a consultant to the California State Board of Acupuncture for questions regarding health insurance coverage and malpractice insurance. Professor Allen is also the editor of Acupuncture Today.
Matt Callison, LAc
Matt Callison is well known for his work with professional athletes, and is the creator of the Motor Point and Acupuncture Meridian Chart. He is the author of The Motor Point Manual, Motor Pint Index, and Sports Medicine Acupuncture. He has published a clinical study on acupuncture and tibial stress syndromes (shin splints) in the Journal of Chinese Medicine. Mr. Callison has a bachelor of science degree in sports medicine, and has worked in that field at Alvarado Sports Medicine clinic and Scripps Hospital, La Jolla for 6 years. Mr. Callison received his master’s degree in traditional Oriental medicine from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. A class that he developed, “Treatment of Orthopedic Disorders”, is still being taught. He serves as Pacific College’s supervisor of acupuncture interns at the University of California’s San Diego Sports Medicine RIMAC Center where they are blending Chinese and sports medicine in a Western setting. He also has an international lecture series, “Sports Medicine Acupuncture”.
Yongxin Fan, LAc, MD (China)
Yongxin Fan practiced and taught as an attending doctor and instructor in the Acupuncture Institute at the Chinese National Academy of TCM and at the Beijing International Acupuncture Training Center. A member of the AOBTA, Yongxin Fan has lectured and worked as a visiting professor in Holland, Germany and Japan. He has more than 13 years of clinical experience and his research papers have been published in the National Journal of TCM. He specializes in applying an integrated therapy of acupuncture, herbs and tuina to treat various pain syndromes, acute and chronic articulation and muscle injury, lumbago, recovery of fractures, headaches, stress, allergies, insomnia, and gastrointestinal disorders as well as other internal conditions.
Jun Feng Li
Master Li is the former Head Coach of the world renowned Beijing Wushu (martial arts) Team and National Wushu Team of the People’s Republic of China, is an instructor at AOMA, and the head and principal teacher of the International Sheng Zhen society. During his tenure with the Beijing Wushu Team, Master Li achieved international fame as a martial arts film actor and director. One of his most famous students is movie star Jet Li. Master Li serves as advisor to the World Academic Society of Medical Qigong and Qigong Science Research Association of China. He travels throughout the world to train and certify qigong instructors.
Paul Pitchford
Paul Pitchford is a teacher and nutrition researcher. His book Healing with Whole Foods: Asian Traditions and Modern Nutrition (North Atlantic Books) forms the foundation of his unique dietary teachings, which unify Eastern and Western therapies. In his healing work with individuals, he develops rejuvenative plans based on awareness and dietary practices. His early training, following ancient traditional practice, was primarily through apprenticeships and private instructions with masters of meditation and East Asian medicine including Zen Shiatsu acupressure and acupuncture, nutrition and herbology.. For more than three decades, he has applied the unifying wisdom of Far Eastern thought to the major dietary therapies available in the West to create a new vision of health and nutrition.
Mikio Sankey, LAc
Dr. Sankey, theosophist, naturopathic physician, irridologist and energy healer, has been studying and integrating the teachings of ancient wisdom and acupuncture for over 30 years. He received a masters degree in acupuncture and Oriental medicine from Samra University in Los Angeles, California and a Doctor of philosophy in health sciences from Honolulu University, specializing in nutrition and iridology. He also received a Doctor of philosophy in Chinese medicine from American Liberty University in Fullerton, California. Dr. Sankey is a staff instructor at Emperor’s College in Santa Monica, California teaching Esoteric Acupuncture since 1999 and is also a staff instructor since 1998 at the Shiatsu Massage School of Santa Monica, teaching intermediate and advanced traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture theory, and the Hindu chakra system.
Miki Shima, OMD, LAc
Miki Shima is the author of The Medical I Ching and coauthor of The Channel Divergences, Deeper Pathways of the Web. He established the Japanese-American Acupuncture Foundation and serves as its President. Dr. Shima has been practicing acupuncture and Oriental medicine for over 30 years, specializing in immune disorders and infertility. He has studied acupuncture with such masters as Dr. Tadashi Ire; herbal medicine with Dr. Terutane Yamada and the Medical I Ching with Dr. Sango Kobayashi. Dr. Shima has taught over 200 workshops and seminars across America and internationally, and is one of the most popular teachers in oriental medicine today. In 2004, Dr. Miki Shima became an honored recipient of the AAOM Lifetime Achievement Award.
Sadhna Singh, LAc, MBBS (India)
Sadhna Singh graduated from medical college in India, and practiced medicine for over 10 years in the fields of obstetrics, gynecology and internal medicine. At the Asia Emergency Assistance alarm center in Singapore, she planned, supervised and participated in medical rescue operations in the South East Asian region. In her pursuit of integrative medicine, she completed her Masters in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Houston. She is a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist certified by the NCCAOM, and a Governing Board member of the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine. She has a vast background in both Western and Eastern medicine. With her compassion and concern for patients, she is dedicated to providing effective and exceptional care.
Sharon Weizenbaum, LAc
Sharon Weizenbaum has been studying and practicing Chinese medicine for over two decades. She graduated from The New England School of Acupuncture, and also studied gynecology in Hang Zhou, PRC with Dr. Qiu Xiao-Mei and Dr. Sheng Yu-Feng. Since that time, Sharon has translated and clinically applied most of Dr. Qiu’s work in gynecology as well as the works of many other practitioners. Sharon developed Integrative Mandala Acupuncture as a synthesis of her study with both Chinese and Japanese acupuncture teachers. She also developed a two year graduate level program in Chinese herbology titled “The Graduate Mentorship Program”, which she teaches nationally. She is the director of White Pine Healing Arts in Amherst, MA.
Honora Lee Wolfe, LAc
Honora Lee Wolfe has involved in professional health care education since 1976. She is the author or co-author of several books including Prince Wen Hui’s Cook: Chinese Dietary Therapy, How to Have a Healthy Pregnancy Healthy Birth with Chinese Medicine, Managing Menopause Naturally with Chinese Medicine, Points for Profit: The Essential Guide to Practice Success for Acupuncturists, and most recently, The Successful Chinese Herbalist: How to Prescribe Correctly, Gain Patient Compliance, and Operate a Profitable Dispensary. Ms. Wolfe was the director of the Boulder College of Massage Therapy, studied tuina massage at the Shanghai College of TCM, and has taught at many acupuncture colleges and conferences in North America and Europe.
Zheng Zeng, LAc, MD (China)
Zheng Zeng is the Director of the Department of Acupuncture at AOMA. She has participated in clinical research on treating diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis with herbs and acupuncture. She has published papers and books about her clinical experiences and research, such as treating psycho-emotional diseases with acupuncture and treating gynecological and dermatological diseases with acupuncture and herbs. Zheng Zeng practiced at the Teaching Hospital of Chengdu University where she taught both Chinese and foreign students for more than eight years. She also practiced and taught in Tel-Aviv, Israel.
Yifang Tian, BS, MS, MD (China)
Yifang Tian graduated from Chengdu University of TCM with studies in acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine, followed by postgraduate studies that included Jin Guei Yao Lue and the integration of TCM theory with clinical practices. Dr. Tian also completed postgraduate medical study in rheumatology in Switzerland, and received a scholarship from the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to continue her work in Canada. She obtained a Master of Science degree from the University of Guelph. Dr. Tian opened her first clinic in Guelph and a second clinic in Waterloo. Her Guelph clinic is one of the oldest acupuncture clinics in the Golden Triangle.
