AOMA is very proud of the award-winning clinical education we provide our students, as well as the service the clinic provides to the Austin community. This is where students begin to integrate theory and practice.
Clinical training may begin as early as the first term of study. By assisting and observing in our busy student clinic, students have the opportunity to apply information learned through didactic instruction. Clinical theater is also an important part of the observation experience. The student observer is exposed to all aspects of the practice of Oriental medicine, from the intake through pulse and tongue diagnosis, acupuncture treatment and prescription of herbal formulas.
After completing the requirements outlined in the clinic manual, including clinical observation, completion of certain core classes and a comprehensive exam, student interns begin to treat patients under the direct supervision of qualified acupuncturists. Clinical competence is formally evaluated by our clinical supervisors each term. Practical comprehensive exams provide additional measures of the students' mastery of clinical skills.
To Make an Appointment
For appointments call: NORTH (Anderson Lane) 512.371.3738, or SOUTH (South Congress) 512.693.4373. We schedule on a term basis. Each term, the intern hours may change. Plan on 1 1/2 hours for each session. If you are a new patient, please come 20 minutes early to fill out paperwork. Eating approximately one hour before your appointment is advised. We recommend finding 2-3 students you enjoy working with and rotating with them for your course of treatment. Often students book up for the entire term early. Having a variety of interns familiar with your case ensures ease in booking appointments and consistent, quality treatments.
Cost
The AOMA Student Clinic fee is $30.00 per treatment. Low Income discount programs are available by application. Also, see our Gift Certificate Packet Special Offer. Payment may be made by cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express. While we are unable to accept insurance at this time, patients may receive a receipt at time of payment for reimbursement.

Gift Certificates
Gift Certificates are available for individual sale at $30 each. Purchase a Gift Certificate Packet and receive five for $120.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellation notice is requested 24 hours before your appointment. Patients who cancel without 24 hours notice will be assessed a $30 cancellation fee. Appointments are considered cancelled and forfeited 20 minutes after the appointment time.
