Acupuncture for Women’s Health

Having trouble with women's health issues?

Come to our Austin acupuncture clinic to get relief. Traditional Chinese medicine takes a fascinating approach to the female reproductive cycle, one that is guided by nature, Daoist principles, and yin/yang theory. There are different aspects of the menstrual cycle that are distinctly yin and yang; however, the constant movement and flux of hormones throughout a woman’s life can lead to a variety of imbalances.

ACUPUNCTURE & TCM CAN HELP

Menstruation support: Menstruation should be painless and accompanied by minimal pre- and postmenstrual symptoms. Acupuncture causes blood vessels to dilate, improving ovarian and uterine blood circulation and reducing menstrual pain and cramping. Acupuncture can regulate periods by balancing hormonal communication between the brain and the ovaries. Once hormones are balanced, the body will function properly, ovulation will occur, and menses will follow suit at a regular interval. Menopause Support: During menopause, many women experience uncomfortable or even debilitating symptoms. According to Chinese medicine, imbalanced interaction between Kidney yin and yang leads to difficulties during menopause. Symptoms of yang deficiency in menopause may include tiredness, lower back pain, incontinence, and aversion to cold. Symptoms of yin deficiency (the far more common type) include hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, and irritability.

ACUPUNCTURE IN A NUTSHELL

Acupuncture, the most well-known traditional Chinese medical procedure, is the practice of inserting thin needles into the body at specific points to relieve pain or treat a disease. Acupuncture triggers spontaneous healing reactions in the body, and scientific studies have proven its efficacy for treating inflammation, pain, depression, and a host of other disorders.
